PPF in Partnership with the Pacesetters Programme

The Pacesetters Programme is a partnership between local communities who experience health inequalities, the NHS and the Department of Health.

The Equality and Human Rights Group are working with up to five Strategic Health Authorities on the programme within each Pacesetter area, three Trusts will participate in the programme and Plymouth is one of these. The overall aim of the programme is to deliver equality and diversity improvements and innovations resulting in:

The inequalities are those arising from discrimination on account of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, religion, and sexual orientation and gender identity. PPF were approached to be involved with an initiative that hopes to increase the number of lesbians screened , resulting in earlier detection of breast cancer together with raising the profile of the importance of such screening to our lesbian community . The Initiative will be evaluated to look at where service improvements can be made and how recognised good practice can be adopted and how this can be applied to other settings and locations.
