Welcome!

You’re bound to see some changes on here as the months go by as we try to include the stuff that you feel is important, newsworthy and most of all worth reading. So be sure to let us now what you think of it.

The new committee has been in post now since March and there has been a lot to be getting on with so this is my chance to give you a little round up.

Rhea (your fantastic new Secretary) and I were invited to join a new liaison group which involves the City Council, Primary Care Trust, Devon and Cornwall Police, PPE to name but a few. Its objectives are to share information and good practice that will be of real benefit to the LGBT communities in the city and to ensure that any potential barriers to us accessing services are highlighted and acted upon. It’s still in its infancy and we will keep you informed of its work and will be calling on you to give your opinions about key issues in the very near future.

Mike (of PPE) and myself were invited along to meet new Victim Support staff back in April to give a short presentation on what PPE and PPF were all about. We were warmly received and encouraged by their enthusiasm to find out about the LGBT communities and how they could ensure that the important service they provide benefits the wider community. You will find a little more about their work inside.

I formally joined the Committee of PPE on your behalf in order to represent Forum and witnessed first hand the huge amount of commitment these folks have. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them on behalf of all of us for the fantastic Pride 2008. PPF are committed to actively supporting any plans for 2009 and want to be a key player in helping this event to keep on growing.

So as you can see, its an exciting time for PPF, were making our face known again and our voice heard, for example it was great to be given the opportunity to represent you at the Mayoral inauguration back in May and we wish Cllr Brian Vincent well for his term of office. Remember it’s your needs that will drive us forward, and the new committee are determined to work hard for you and make Plymouth a city that values its LGBT communities and one that you feel safe to live, work and enjoy yourselves in. See you all soon

Warm regards Alan
